This is in reference to the Kindle edition. I would have given a 4 to the printed edition, assuming it did not have the errors in the Kindle edition. It was apparently run through a text recognition software and nobody bothered to clean it up. It would only have taken a few hours of someones time to fix it. In general, all tables are useless. Many sentences are unreadable. e.g 1^2 C^ oo $*>> c^ *-O oo^ and so on. With some work you can get a lot of information in the text portions about chemical reactions during smelting and the effects of manganese, sulfur, phosphorus, etc. in the ore and how flux removes the impurities. Some illustrations are quite useful in understanding. They would have done better by just taking a picture of each page and making a book of it. I still learned a lot about the different kinds of iron (pig iron, cast iron, wrought iron), steel and alloys, crystals in steel and how they cause weakness, and different kinds of smelters, so I gave it a two.Product details
